Toms River, New Jersey

As a citizen born and raised in the coastal town of Toms River, I am very involved in my town and love to share my passions with others! This page has been created to share my experiences with you. If you have any questions regarding the programs mentioned on this page, please feel free to contact me. All of my information can be found in the "Contact Me" section.

A Need We Feed

My Experience:

As a hostess at Chef Mike's Atlantic Bar and Grill in Seaside Park, I am able to attest that Chef Mike has always been a fun loving, community-oriented boss.

Moreover, Chef Mike alongside Cliff Baker created A Need We Feed in 2012 for Hurricane Sandy relief. I stand as a proud volunteer of  the A Need We Feed nonprofit organization, and we continue to prepare over 600 meals every Thanksgiving and Christmas to to support our local residents as well as veterans and first responders, with our food distribution program, holiday toy drives, and partnerships with local businesses.

Toms River Field of Dreams

My Experience:

Gavin Kane is an aspiring 6 year old with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) who does not let his disabilities hold him back. Although Gavin is nonverbal, his radiant personality speaks beyond words. From watching baseball to playing games with Gavin, he has inspired me in multiple aspects.

The Toms River Field of Dreams (TRFOD) is a project with a mission created by the Kane family to encourage and engage the communities of Ocean and Monmouth County, with a focus on those with special needs, in physical and social activity by building a complex in Toms River to provide opportunities for all individuals of all ages all abilities to explore and socialize together.

As a close friend of the Kane family, I have experience first-hand the dedication of this family to unite students and families across Toms River to build this complex for people with special needs and disabilities. Fortunately, TROFD has been able to raise money through numerous fundraisers to begin construction in the fall of 2018.

TR: TechReady Coding Camp

My Experience:

In spring 2018, the Toms River Regional School District was awarded the most competitive grant in the history of our district: a three-year coding project for high school students worth more than $763 million. This grant was federally funded by the Office of Naval Research, and we've named it TR: TechReady.

As a proud assistant of the program, I volunteered at the camp this summer to help teach students, like myself, the computer programming language of Java. To learn more about our mission at TR: TechReady, press the "Click to View More" button!

Currently, I am assisting the Toms River Board of Education apply for another grant focused on funding environmental science camps during the summer of 2020 and beyond.
